Second Saturday

According to RBI guidelines, banks do not function on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month. 

In Punjab, the banks remain closed on 8th Jan, 12th Feb, 12th Mar, 9th Apr, 14th May, 11th Jun, 9th Jul, 13th Aug, 10th Sep, 8th Oct, 12th Nov, and 10th Dec according to the guidelines released by the Reserve Bank of India.

Fourth Saturday

According to RBI guidelines, banks do not function on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month. 

In Punjab, the banks remain closed on 22nd Jan, 26th Feb, 26th Mar, 23rd Apr, 28th May, 25th Jun, 23rd Jul, 27th Aug, 24th Sep, 22nd Oct, 26th Nov, and 24th Dec according to the guidelines mentioned by RBI.

Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti (9th Jan)

The Sikh communities celebrate this day. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh who was the 10th Guru according to history

He is believed to have transformed the Sikh faith. It is believed that he fought alongside Khalsa to safeguard his people from the Mughal invaders.

Republic Day (26th Jan)

This is one of our country's three national holidays, during which all banks in India are closed. India's constitution was implemented on this day in our country. 

The Indian flag is raised on this day, and the Indian army holds parades. This occurs on Rajpath in New Delhi.

Vasant Panchami (5th Feb)

Guru Ravidas Jayanti (16th Feb)

Maha Shivaratri (1st Mar)

Every year on this day, Lord Shiva is honored. Various communities celebrate Lord Shiva's union with Goddess Parvati on this day. 

Jagadish Vasudev, also known as "Sadhguru," hosts several activities for his devotees on this day.

Holi (8th Mar - 9th Mar)

Also known as the color festival. People use powder or colored water to play with colors on this day. This day marks the start of the spring season

This is a day for playing, laughing, and following the philosophy of forgetting and forgiving among the youth. Some harvest-dependent households pray for a good harvest.

Ram Navami (10th Apr)

Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti (14th Apr)

This day is observed to honor Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's memory and birth anniversary. During the writing of India's constitution, he was regarded as the primary architect. 

This has been an official national holiday in the United States since 2015. The Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, was bestowed on him posthumously in 1990.

Good Friday (15th Apr)

Bakrid (10th July)

This gesture demonstrated devotion to God and is commemorated across the country. People pray for peace in mosques.

Independence Day (15th Aug)

This day is observed by Indians around the country. This day is a national holiday that is observed every year. 

It denotes the country's or nation's independence from the United Kingdom, which had seized control of our country's trade routes at the time. 

On this day, the country's Prime Minister visits Red Fort, a monument, for a flag-raising ceremony and also delivers a national address that is carried on television. 

Janmashtami (19th Aug)

Hindu groups commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna, who is considered the eighth child of his mother Devaki, on this day. On this day, many people fast and pray. 

Many communities follow Lord Krishna's ideals, and this day is considered particularly auspicious among Hindu communities

Gandhi Jayanti (2nd Oct)

The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated on this day. This day is commemorated to promote a message of peace, harmony, and rigorous nonviolence throughout the world.

Vijaya Dashami (5th Oct)
