MCX Holidays 2022

As opposed to risk-averse investors, there are investors who possess or who prefer to assume risk. In other words, they have an unwanted appetite for risk – some of them because they are financially rotund, while others because of the titillation they experience by taking on higher amounts of risk.

While, for a lot of investors in the stock market the tale ends with dealing in either shares or government securities, rational arcane investors look to another class of assets, among which one of the classes is commodities.

Various mcx holidays , We are going to discuss a few of them. Scroll for our mcx holidays 2022 calendar.

MCX Holidays 2022

WHAT IS MCX?

Multi-commodity Exchange (MCX) is a government-owned Indian commodity exchange which comes under the Ministry of Finance.  It is a medium through which the largest trades in future contracts are executed.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has time and again issued best practice guidelines for the operation of commodity exchanges.

Furthermore, in 2019 the Government in India   has introduced the provision of trading in options with commodities as underlying.

The MCX, to comply with the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), launched the MCX India Commodity Indices (MCX iCOMDEX) – which consists of indices of different commodities.

In April 2022 MCX collaborated with the Chittagong Stock Index, to establish Bangladesh’s first commodity exchange.

Trading in commodity markets, more specifically through the MCX are traded between a particular time slot. As opposed to the trading time for securities such as shares, the time for trading for commodities is more liberal.

Recently, only in March of 2022, the government of India via the Ministry of Finance has revised the window for trading in commodities through or on the MCX.

On account of shifts in the US daylight savings timings, now investors can trade from 9 AM to 11:30 PM on the MCX. However, this change of time shall only be applicable to non-agricultural commodities.

Agricultural commodities, on the other hand, can be traded till 9 PM. The residual commodities shall be available for trading till 5 PM. Trade modifications and position limit or collateral value setup/cut-off end time shall be allowed till 11:45 PM.

It is proposed that after the end of US daylight savings of the spring season, trading in the internationally referenced trade commodities will be available till 11:55 PM.

An additional buffer of 15 minutes in case of all classes of commodities shall be given for making modifications in the client code.  As opposed to the share or the security market which is open for trading from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM from Monday to Friday

The investors can utilize the Trader WorkStation (TWS) – which is concomitant with various features such as best sell, best buy, last traded price, open interest etc.

Investors can order goods such as Good till Cancelled (GTC), Good till Date (GTD), Immediate or Cancel (IOC) to execute their trades within the stipulated time.
