Vasant Panchami

Guru Ravidas Jayanti

February 16 which is on Wednesday, we will celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Guru Ravidas who is also known as Guru Raidas was a poet and a saint who led the bhakti movement.

We celebrate his birthday as Guru Ravidas Jayanti. This year we are going to celebrate his 645th birthday.

Maha shivaratri

This day is celebrated by all the devotees of Lord Shiva. Maha Shivaratri is considered as the day of union between Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti who are the true example of love and power

People prefer fasting on this day and worship Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Shiva listens to all the prayers on this day. We are going to celebrate it on 1st March, 2022.

Holi

Holi is the second most popular festival in Hindu community. This day marks the victory of Lord Vishnu over the arrogant demon king Hiranyakashyap. 

On this day, Lord Vishnu reincarnated into half animal and half human in order to kill Hiranyakashyap. A day before Holi is celebrated as Holika dahan or choti Holi. This year, Holi falls on March 18, 2022.

S. Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Day is celebrated to give tribute to our freedom fighters- Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru. 23rd March will be celebrated as S. Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Day. 

Ram Navami

After so many prayers, Ayodhya King Dashrath finally was blessed with a baby boy. This baby boy was none other than Lord Ram. To celebrate the birth of Lord Ram, Ram Navami is celebrated every year. April 10, 2022 will be celebrated as Ram Navami this year. 

Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti

Eid-ul-fitr

Muharram

Another famous muslim festival is Muharram. This is a mourning period for all the Muslim brothers and sisters. The sunnis fast on this day and the shias mourn on this day.

Rakshabandhan

Rakhi is the festival of love. The love between brother and sister is celebrated on this day. According to history, Draupadi tied a piece of her cloth on Lord Krishna’s finger in order to stop the bleeding. 

In return, Lord Krishna promised her to protect her no matter what. That cloth turned into a sacred thread known as Rakhi. Rakshabandhan falls on 11th August, Thursday this year.

Janmashtami

The day that marks the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated with full energy by his devotees. Janmashtami will be celebrated on 18th August, 2022 this year on Thursday. 

Gandhi Jayanti

In order to commemorate the father of our nation, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on October 2nd every year. Gandhi Jayanti is falling on Sunday this year.

Dussehra

This festival is also known as Vijay Dashamai. This day marks the end of nine days long Navratri. It is believed that Lord Ram killed Ravana on this day.

This day marks the victory of good over evil. We are going to celebrate this day on October 5, 2022 this year.

Diwali

This is the most important festival for Hindu community. On this day, Lord Ram returned to ayodhya after 14 long years and the entire city was decorated in order to welcome him.

People danced and showed their happiness. The ritual is continuing till this date. People decorate their homes with flowers, lights and rangoli. The festival will be celebrated on October 24, which is on Monday.
