You might be someone who always prioritises checking the nutritional value of all the foods that you eat over anything else. Is there a part of you that wonders if the foods you consume on a daily basis are the very best for you?

Are you interested in spreading the word about healthy eating and nutrition to other people? Then a career as a Dietician would be a great fit for you.

Known as dieticians, those who specialise in this field are medical professionals whose role is to assess and advise people on their dietary habits, to help them develop and follow good eating habits based on established dietetic principles and nutritional practices.

The purpose of these professionals is to apply nutrition science to health care and rehabilitation and to apply that knowledge to treatments.

There are some frequently asked questions about the role of a nutritionist and this article will explain what a nutritionist does, why she becomes one and answers to those questions.

How To Become A Nutritionist In India

Why one should become an Nutritionist

  • You also benefit from embracing your curiosity about food, and being curious about the things you eat, where they come from, and how they are prepared, you can be able to make a significant impact on your health.

People who choose a career as a nutritionist can turn their curiosity into a career that will help others in the long run.
  • A career in nutrition is often inspired by people using their interest in food, and their experiences with nutritionists and

Dietitians who have helped them live a healthier lifestyle, says Sarah Peterson, PhD, RD, LDN, director of the master's program in clinical nutrition at Rush University.

  • In this day and age, nutritionists and dietitians are expected to gain 15 percent jobs between 2016 and 2026 according to the Bureau of Labour Statistics.

This rate of growth, by far, is much better than most other occupations in the United States.

Increasingly, the demand for nutrition is increasing with the ageing of the baby boomer population and a growing awareness amongst health care providers regarding the necessity of nutrition to prevent and treat disease.

  • Clinical nutrition specialists offer individual advice and custom-made meal plans designed specifically to treat patients suffering from diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer due to obesity, or other diseases that are related to obesity.

What they do: They provide individual advice and create customised meal plans.

Additionally, this individual must possess at least 1,000 hours of experience in a clinical environment. Additionally, you must successfully complete the CBNS test in order to become certified as a nutrition specialist.

Cons

  • A narrow approach to nutrition is a common component of many training programs. By taking a holistic approach to nutrition, we can achieve nutritional health - in other words, we should not just rely on calorie counting, protein-to-carbohydrate ratios, or other measures that don't consider the whole picture.

  • It will come as no surprise to anyone that many of these recommendations are biassed by corporate interests, and that some of the research being funded by corporations is strictly for their own gain.
