 Janmashtami 2022

The Krishna Janmashtami festival commemorates the birth of Krishna, one of Hinduism's most renowned deities.

Eight days after Raksha Bandhan, a celebration honouring the link between brothers and sisters, Janmashtami is celebrated.

Ananda (bliss/happiness) is what Lord Krishna represents.  As a result, Janmashtami commemorates the birth of Bliss.

History about Janmashtami

In the month of Bhadrapada, Lord Krishna was born in Mathura. Mathura was ruled by Lord Krishna's uncle Kansa when he was born.

Kansa desired to murder his sister's children because a prophecy predicted that the couple's eighth son would be Kansa's undoing.

Kansa imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva and killed their first six children shortly after they were born after hearing the prophecy. Devaki's seventh child was moved to Rohini’s from Devaki’s womb.

The entire kingdom fell silent when their eighth child, Lord Krishna, was born, and Vasudeva rescued the baby to Nand Baba and Yashodha's residence in Vrindavan.

Vasudeva returned to the palace with a baby girl and delivered her to Kansa after the transaction.

When the wicked  monarch attempted to murder her, she changed into Goddess Durga and alert him of his coming doom. Krishna then kills his uncle Kansa for his bad deeds marking the destruction of evil.
