Candidates can become CBI Officer, only who has graduated in commerce, biology, and humanities with a minimum of 50% marks.

Those who wish to become a Grade-A officer as a Special Director has to first qualify to become an IPS/IRS after qualifying UPSC civil services exam and candidates who want to become a Grade-B officer like Inspector etc have to qualify SSC-CGL exam for further process.

Eligibility

  • A graduate from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% in aggregate in Arts,
  • Science or Commerce are eligible to apply for the CBI Officer post.
  • The minimum age limit for CBI officers is 20 yrs. and maximum age is relaxed according to category benefits such as-
  • General-20 to 30; OBC- 20 to 33 and for SC/ST- 20 to 33. 
  • Grade A post-candidates need to become IPS/IRS.
  • Grade B post-candidates need to qualify for the SSC-CGL exam.

  • Candidates need to possess a height of 150 cms for females and 157 cms for males and proportion weight and a good vision of 6/6 and 6/9 with/without glass.

This is how to get into cbi, A candidate has to undergo India’s toughest examinations such as UPSC-(Union Public Service Commission) and SSC (Staff Selection Examination) to qualify for the job in the government and private sectors. The details of the examination are as follows:

The Staff Selection Commission:

Staff Selection Commission of India conducts SSC-CGL in four levels such as:

  • Level 1 - An Online-based examination that contains 100 questions that give 2marks for correct answers and 0.50 for incorrect answers. The duration of the exam is 60minutes, which consists of four sections General Intelligence and Reasoning. General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English comprehension.

  • Level 2 - Online-based examination consists of 4 papers such as Paper-1-Quantitative Ability, Paper-2-English language, and comprehension; Statistics (paper-3), and General Studies (paper-4). The exam duration is two hours.

  • Level 3 - An Offline –paper-based test, where candidates have to write an essay, application, letter, etc. The duration is of 1 hour which makes 100 marks on the whole.

  • Level 4 - A skill-based test conducted for candidates to check computer literacy.

  • Interview - Last but not least, it ends with situation-based questions, about oneself and many more. Candidates get selected based on performance.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC):

UPSC examination consists of Prelims and Main exam followed by Personality Test with Interview. It consists of:

Main-Objective-based exam of Paper-1-100 questions/200 marks and Paper2-80 questions/200 marks based on /general studies.

  • Prelims - It consists of the following papers:-
  • Paper 1 - It consists of current events, the History of India, Indian Polity, world geography,  general science, economic and social development, etc. 
  • Paper 2 - Comprehension, interpersonal skills, logic, and basic numeracy.
  • Paper A - Compulsory Indian language-300Marks
  • Paper B - English- 200 marks
  • Paper 1 - Essay- 3hours-250 marks
  • Paper 2 - IHC, History and geography and world society and General studies-250 marks.
  • Paper 3 - General studies, governance, constitution, welfare, and social justice.
  • Paper 4 -Technology, economic, biodiversity etc-250 marks
  • Paper 5 - Ethics, integrity, and aptitude- 3hours-250 marks
  • Paper 6 - Optional subject-250 marks
  • Paper 7 - Optional subject-250 marks.
  • Marks obtained in Paper 1 to 7 only will be counted for merit ranking.
